My interest in the
water-cooled VW scene has been growing for as long as I can remember. When I was
studying for my degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of South
Florida I was driving my 1987 Gti. It was here where I met Joe Piacenza who was
also a ME student and a fellow VW enthusiast. At the time Joe owned a 1960
ragtop Beetle and a mk2 Jetta Gli.
After graduation Joe and I went our
separate ways, each receiving jobs in the corporate world. I remained in the VW
scene by maintaining VWFixx.com, in addition to my engineering job. Joe spent his spare
time restoring various vintage VW’s after the daily “engineering grind” was
over.
Being an avid VW enthusiast, Joe felt the need for a quality
air-cooled VW shop in the Tampa Bay area and teamed up with his father J.R. (an
air-cooled VW veteran) to form Classic Camber in 2003. The local customers have
positively responded to their friendly and knowledgeable approach to business,
wide scope of restoration services, and technical diversity. This is the same
formula Joe wanted to apply to a hi-performance water-cooled shop in Tampa Bay.
He contacted me about beginning a shop and I thought it was a great idea and
offered my website name and technical services to the cause.

Tuning is located alongside Classic Camber in Pinellas Park, specializing in hi-performance VW and
Audi sport tuning. It features a retail show room, performance parts
installation by ASE certified mechanics, and an online e-commerce catalogue. |
